All applicants ought to know these basics about Le Labo before applying or interviewing for any role.

Le Labo was founded in New York in 2006 by Fabrice Penot and Eddie Roschi, who built the brand around “slow perfumery” rather than traditional luxury-fragrance marketing.
Its boutiques are designed like working labs, where many perfumes are freshly compounded and personalized with labels showing the customer’s name, date, and place of creation.
The brand’s naming system pairs a hero ingredient with the total number of ingredients in the formula, making icons like Santal 33 and Thé Noir 29 instantly recognizable to fragrance insiders.
Le Labo’s City Exclusives collection ties certain scents to specific cities, creating a culture of scarcity and pilgrimage that has become a powerful retail ritual.
The company was acquired by Estée Lauder Companies in 2014, placing it in a prestige fragrance portfolio that also includes Jo Malone London, Frédéric Malle, and Kilian Paris.
For job seekers, Le Labo is notable for blending craft, hospitality, and counter-culture branding, so roles often require both luxury-service precision and a strong feel for storytelling.
