All applicants ought to know these basics about Richemont before applying or interviewing for any role.

Richemont was founded in 1988 by South African entrepreneur Johann Rupert and has grown into one of luxury’s most influential groups, making it especially relevant for candidates interested in careers at the holding-company level rather than within a single maison.
The group’s portfolio spans jewellery, watchmaking, fashion, and accessories, including houses such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Jaeger LeCoultre, IWC, and Chloé, which creates unusually broad internal mobility for talent.
Richemont has long invested in specialist watchmaking infrastructure and suppliers, so careers there can extend beyond brand marketing or retail into highly technical manufacturing, movement development, and craftsmanship roles.
Unlike more centralized fashion groups, Richemont is known for giving its maisons significant creative and operational autonomy, a structure that can appeal to job seekers who want the backing of a major group without losing brand-specific culture.
The company has been a major force in hard luxury, with jewellery and watch maisons often forming the core of its identity, making it a particularly strong destination for candidates who want exposure to enduring, heritage-driven product categories.
Richemont has also played an important role in luxury’s digital evolution through investments in e-commerce and omnichannel capabilities, offering opportunities in strategy, data, client experience, and digital transformation alongside traditional luxury functions.
