The Automatic Fabric Cutter operates cutting machines, checks machine setup and materials, monitors cut quality, and supports sorting and packing in a manufacturing environment. The role is full-time and based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Role & Responsibilities
- Follow instructions from the Supervisor.
- Read cutting orders.
- Check the cut information in the program and verify that styles and sizes are correct.
- Check the machine cycle against the cutting order and ensure the machine is set up for the correct ply height, speed, and reciprocation speed.
- Check that all fabric materials are present before cutting.
- Report any issues to the Supervisor immediately.
- Follow appropriate safety procedures.
- Monitor cut quality while the machine is operating.
- Assist the Sorter in ensuring all cut pieces are removed and packed.
- Maintain a clean and safe workstation.
Qualifications
- Experience in an apparel manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Understanding of numbers and measurements.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good command of English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand or walk for 8 hours.
- Working knowledge of production functions.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to the role.
- Detail-oriented, with a high degree of accuracy.
- Self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision.
