The Automatic Fabric Spreader works from cutting-room supervisor directions to spread fabric according to markers and complete required documentation. The role maintains equipment and records, follows safety procedures, and operates spreading machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Spread fabric lays according to markers provided by Marker Making.
- Maintain daily records of spreading jobs and keep the workspace and equipment clean and organized.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
- Follow safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Notify the supervisor of mechanical malfunctions and inspect machinery to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Start machines, monitor operations, and make adjustments as needed.
- Consult the supervisor about orders, processes, or problems.
Qualifications
- Read markers and spread fabric to maximize fabric usage.
- Show initiative in consistently meeting deadlines.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, and move and lift up to 50 lb.
- Work in a noisy, fast-paced factory environment.
- Understand and follow job safety guidelines; use required spreading machines and electrical tools, including the Chickadee Cutter.
- Set up machines to specifications and perform preventive maintenance on machines, tools, and equipment.
- Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Have excellent eyesight and detect subtle differences in fabric-roll shading.
