The Sewing Machine Operator assesses garment pieces before sewing and produces garment components to specification while meeting daily productivity targets and Canada Goose quality standards. This is a full-time position in Montreal, Monday to Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assess garment pieces for quality before sewing.
- Sew garment components, including pockets, flaps, zippers, hoods and sleeves, and attach linings to shells according to specifications and required appearance.
- Work as part of a team to complete garments.
- Meet or exceed daily individual productivity quotas while maintaining Canada Goose quality standards.
- Learn new operations to achieve the company’s goal of 100% efficiency or more.
- Follow Canada Goose rules, regulations and code of conduct.
Qualifications
- Sewing experience in the manufacturing and apparel industry is an asset.
- Experience operating single-needle, double-needle and seam-serger machines is a definite asset.
- Ability to maintain a steady hand while feeding fabric through a machine.
- Manual dexterity to make quick, coordinated movements with one or both hands to manipulate fabric.
- Proven ability to follow instructions, solve problems and take initiative toward a solution.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
