Clarins seeks a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis in Laval, Quebec to lead FP&A operations, financial planning, and strategic business partnership.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Act as principal financial advisor to the General Director for all strategic and operational decisions of the subsidiary
  • Advise senior management and functions (Sales, Marketing, Retail, eCommerce, Supply Chain) on performance analysis and decision-making
  • Lead the FP&A function to produce reliable, timely, and relevant management reports
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, performance indicators, and decision-support tools (e.g., profitability by brand, distribution channel, and customer)
  • Analyze variances, recommend corrective actions, and conduct ad-hoc financial analyses and modeling as needed
  • Collaborate with supply chain on forecasting, inventory projections, and associated provisions
  • Strengthen the subsidiary's financial culture by simplifying financial issues and supporting team development
  • Conduct analytical reviews of the balance sheet and income statement
  • Collaborate with the Controller to ensure quality and timely month-end closings and regulatory submissions
  • Partner with the Controller to verify adequacy of provisions and accrued expenses
  • Analyze cash flow projections and recommend working capital optimization actions
  • Direct the financial planning cycle: annual budget, monthly forecast reviews, and medium-term business plan
  • Present assumptions, results, and recommendations to local and regional leadership
  • Monitor budgets, cash flow forecasts, and key financial commitments
  • Maintain and develop budgeting and forecasting tools in close collaboration with regional FP&A teams
  • Contribute to maintaining financial policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Group standards and local legal requirements
  • Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls in partnership with the Controller
  • Serve as contact point for external partners (lawyers, tax specialists) as needed
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects related to governance, systems, ESG, or strategic initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business
  • CPA/CA designation or equivalent professional accounting credential
  • Approximately 10 years of experience in finance, including FP&A and financial reporting
  • Experience in retail, FMCG, or high-inventory-intensity environments
  • Strong understanding of operational, performance, and inventory management issues
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and business partnership skills
  • Solid competencies in financial analysis, modeling, scenario planning, and return on investment evaluation
  • Collaborative leadership style, team spirit, and pragmatic approach
  • Fluency in both French and English (required for interaction with Clarins entities globally and across Canadian provinces)
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of consolidation tools such as HFM and Workday is an asset

Approximately 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with demonstrated expertise in financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and experience in retail, FMCG, or inventory-intensive operational environments. Proven track record of advising senior management on strategic and operational decisions through rigorous financial analysis and business partnering.

Education

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business; CPA/CA designation or equivalent professional accounting credential required.
