De Beers seeks Heavy Equipment Operator at Gahcho Kué Mine, Northwest Territories. Fixed-term contract through April 2027, 14-day rotation, remote site operations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Safely and skillfully operate a variety of heavy mobile equipment and attachments to excavate, grade, and move hard rock
- Conduct daily safety checks and inspections of equipment prior to operation
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions according to mine operating procedures
- Adhere to company procedures and standards governing safety, environmental compliance, and code of conduct
- Communicate effectively via two-way radio with supervisory and operational personnel
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Qualified to operate at least three types of heavy mobile equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, or haul trucks)
- Minimum three years' experience in the mining industry at remote sites or open pit mines
- Ability to safely work 12-hour day and night shifts on a rotational basis
- Ability to work effectively in a safety-oriented, fast-paced, cross-cultural environment
Skills
Experience
Minimum three years' experience in the mining industry, preferably at remote sites and/or in open pit mines. Candidates must possess documented on-the-job training and operational qualification on at least three different types of heavy mobile equipment from the categories listed.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent life skills
