Holt Renfrew seeks a Manager, Internal Audit and Risk Advisory for a 14-month contract in Toronto. Lead audits, risk oversight, and team leadership in luxury retail.
Role & Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee the complete internal audit plan, including financial audits, operational reviews, and special projects, ensuring execution to established standards
- Build collaborative relationships with business management to analyse control issues, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions that strengthen internal controls and reduce operational losses
- Evaluate systems of internal controls, review administrative and operational procedures, design audit tests and procedures, and identify control concerns and management issues
- Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to review findings, share best practices, and develop and execute action plans for continuous improvement
- Chair management meetings to present, discuss, and agree upon audit findings and recommendations; review and finalize reports at draft and completion stages
- Oversee special projects initiated by company management and prepare appropriate documentation and reports
- Manage performance of third-party audit resources to ensure assignments comply with the company's internal audit standards
- Lead, motivate, and retain a high-performing audit team capable of delivering consistent results
- Ensure compliance with privacy policies, regulatory requirements, and cyber security measures across all audit activities
- Demonstrate commitment to employee development and succession planning through regular performance discussions, team building, and skill development initiatives
Qualifications
- CA, CPA, CGA, or CMA designation
- Minimum five years of experience in public accounting or industry-based auditing
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills with proven ability to drive results
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong attention to detail
- Experience documenting processes and practices while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Knowledge of retail best practices; fashion retail experience is an asset
- Strong understanding of privacy policies, regulations, and cyber security frameworks
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats

Experience
Minimum five years of professional experience in public accounting or auditing within a business environment. Demonstrated experience leading audit teams, conducting detailed control evaluations, and delivering audit and assurance services. Proven track record of building stakeholder relationships and implementing control improvements. Retail industry exposure is valued; fashion retail experience is considered an asset.
Education
Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional work experience demonstrating equivalent knowledge and capability.

Compensation
The base compensation for this position ranges from CAD 90,000 to CAD 115,000 per annum.
