The areas and roles that receive and serve customers or guests directly.
Front of house covers the customer-facing side of a retail or hospitality operation, including the spaces customers use and the people who serve them. Work can include welcoming arrivals, answering questions, recommending products and responding to service needs. These activities depend on coordination with colleagues handling stock, administration or other support tasks. The boundary describes a function rather than a fixed job grade. One employee can work across both sides of an operation, moving between direct customer contact and the preparation that makes that contact effective.
