An approach to improving work by reducing waste and focusing on value for the customer.
Lean examines how work delivers value to the customer and where activities consume resources without adding that value. A team can review the sequence of tasks, identify unnecessary waiting or movement, and change the process to reduce waste. Standard work instructions help make the agreed method clear enough to follow and assess. Improvements need to preserve the requirements of the product or service. The useful distinction is between improving the way work flows and simply demanding faster output from the same arrangement.
