Luxury Lexicon A definition

Replenishment

Replenishment is the work of restoring stock where it is needed after items sell or are used.

When the last medium coat on a rail sells, the replacement might already be in the stockroom. Moving it to the sales floor restores the size available to customers without increasing the store’s total inventory. A transfer from another location changes the stock held at each site. A stock count, by contrast, records what is present and can help explain why replenishment is needed.
