Made without a separate inner lining, either throughout a shoe or in a specified part of it.
A lining forms an inner layer within a shoe’s upper. It can cover separate areas, including the quarters around the back and the vamp inside the forepart and toe. An unlined construction omits that separate layer throughout the upper or in a specified area. The description therefore needs to be read with its scope in mind. An unlined forepart does not establish that every other part of the shoe lacks a lining. It also describes the inner construction rather than the shoe’s fastening or toe shape.

Job descriptions rarely mention lining, but sales and development roles may. An advisor can use the word to explain why an unlined shoe feels softer and breaks in differently, and a developer has to specify it in the construction. Search local jobs for “footwear”.
